7 things to know before you invest in a pass
100%

Since it’s inception in 2016, all DesignUp Conferences have been completely Sold Out, often a week or two before the event!

300

The longest waitlist to get a DesignUp Conference pass, in Sept 2022. We closed the waitlist 36 hours before the conference, else the number could’ve been bigger...

In some conferences a large majority of the content is just delivered by sponsor nominated speakers: pay to play!

89%

At DesignUp, over the years, an avg of 89% speakers are selected 100% on the merit & quality of their content.

5 of 7

Probability of our servers crashing on the day the Super Early Birds and Early Bird passes are released. It’s become something of a tradition to watch these birds fly off faster over the years, and more often in hours!

23%

The growing percentage of non-Designers who attend: from PMs to CTOs, HR to CMOs, CEOs, Founders and even Doctors (we had 2 in 2023). Open, inclusive, eclectic - that’s us!

38

The number of cities our attendees have travelled from (since we started keeping track).

From Auckland to Austin, Cape Town to Kolkata, San Francisco to Singapore, Kyoto to Kochi we’ve welcomed them all to our beloved Bengaluru.

29

The years of experience that some of our senior attendees have! So chances of meeting experienced practitioners who lead, recruit, influence, set directions is very high at DesignUp!

I’m not a designer, can I attend? Why is it paid? Can I get a refund?

Answers to these, and other FAQs...

I’m not a designer, can I attend?

Non-Designers (including Lawyers, CTOs, Founders, Doctors, Product Managers, Researchers, L&D specialists, HR folks, and CMOs) are the fastest growing cohort of attendees. In 2023 they were almost 1/4 of DesignUp attendees – adding new energy and diversity to the mix.

If you use (or want to use) Design as a differentiator or a leverage, this event is for you. If you work within some aspect of Design or with Designers, then this event is for you. So a big YES—this event is open to all who work in MNCs, startups, NGOs, boutique agencies or startup-like environments within larger corporations. And if you notice our speaker lineup, its very eclectic!

I’m a designer, what’s in it for me?

DesignUp is at the overlap of Design, Tech and Business. This event is for you to reflect upon various aspects of a designer’s role and expectations – from Design expectations of C-suite, to designing with data, to learning on the job and more. Its also a place for you to meet other Designers from varied industries, meet mentors and seniors in the fraternity. And expand your network

Why is it paid?

It takes a lot of money to host an event of this scale, and at a top venue with food, travel for speakers, stage, sound systems, lights and more. This year, with sponsorship becoming more scarce, rising inflation with uncertainty that abounds – the cost to host the event has certainly become much more expensive. Most of your passes covers that.

Paid passes also ensures that those who attend are not just there to add to the numbers (or use it as a cheap marketing and sales event) but they are there for a genuine reason: to learn, to share, to interact!

But we have also ensured that there are different passes for different budgets – from Student Passes to Premium Passes.

What’s the sponsorship benefits?

Loads – if you’re a new brand on the block – you get instant recognition. If you’re known – you get bonus points for championing design, innovation and startups. Your stuff is in the goodie bags, your logos are on the right places—we’ll event do a social media campaign around sponsors and if you have giveaways or promos, we’ll include them too.

Can I get a refund?

No, unfortunately not—but you can transfer your tickets (see next Q) to a friend or colleague. Usually our passes get sold out with longer wait lists – so someone is always willing to take it off your hands.

Can I transfer the tickets?

Yes. You can transfer right upto 15 days before the event. You have to email us (from the registered email) and let us know the details of the person who you’re tranferring it to. Please ask the person to carry a printout of the email as well. Restrictions apply on DesignUp School Alumni and Student passes.

Where's the 2024 venue?

Sheraton Grand Whitefield is located at the heart of Whitefield (you knew that one!). It’s actually in a sprawling multi-acre block within the Shantiniketan Mall and Apartments with multiple eateries and breweries, and right next to Pattandur Agrahara Metro Station, on the the recently opened Purple Metro Line.
Here’s the map > https://bit.ly/DUp24Venue

Is public transport available?

Yes, use the Namma Metro Purple Line and get off at Pattandur Agrahara Metro Station – now you wouldn’t forget that name in a hurry. The venue is just a 10 mins walk away. JP Nagar/Jayanagar down south are about 30 mins away, MG Road is 20 mins and further east Indranagar/Byapanahalli are nearer, about 15-20 mins away.

Parking?

There’s adequate complimentary parking, or valet parking, and electric charging points at the hotel.

Accessibility

Yes, the Hotel has lifts and ramps, easy access toilets – that makes the place accessible. If you have any specific requirements, please mail us [email protected] – and we’d be happy to help.

Do you have code of conduct?

Yes of course, and we take it very seriously. In letter and spirit. We want DesignUp events—irrespective of how small or big they are, and our online space — to be safe places for sharing and learning. We celebrate diversity and hope and expect thoughtful, considerate and respectful behaviour from all. And we know you too share these beliefs. More details are at: https://designup.io/the-designup-code-of-conduct/
